Holiday 2007 Newsletter

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends and ate everything that was bad for you that day! You need to splurge every now and then, just not every day. Hope you also took time to give thanks for all your blessings that this past year has brought you. I hope you have had a great year so far and if not then I wish all your dreams to come true next year.

Annual Parasite Warning

It just wouldn’t seem like the holidays without me warning you about the increased rate of parasitic infections during this time of the year (sounds appetizing doesn’t it?). The reason is that we tend to eat more food that was prepared by someone who doesn’t usually prepare our food. Whether it is at a restaurant, a party or a potluck dinner, the holiday season exposes us to more chances to get food-borne infections like parasites or food poisoning. That is why every year I recommend that you take Paradex, Jug/Art or Wormwood complex after your dining or party event is over to help rid your body of parasites.

Food Poisoning

With eating at various functions comes the increased possibility of food poisoning. To avoid the awful effects of food poisoning (repeated and relentless evacuation of both your bowels and your stomach contents for several hours), take any of the following when your stomach feels queasy a few hours after dining out or eating old leftovers: 6 droppers of Goldenseal, Coptis or Neem extract, 6 Phytogen or 6 SF734 as soon as the symptoms start will usually handle the bacteria from food poisoning or under-cooked poultry. Doing this has saved me from developing full-blown food poisoning several times over the past 20-plus years. Using probiotics like Zymex, Probiotic MPF or acidophilus can also help protect you by putting lots of good bugs in your bowels to fight the bad ones.

If you over-indulge in the rich desserts and the fatty foods and develop pain under your right ribcage, it is probably your gallbladder protesting loudly that you overdid it. It can make you feel nauseous, bloated and refer pain to your head and your mid back. Many men with chronic mid back pain are really suffering from referred gallbladder pain. Gas starting over an hour after a meal is usually a gallbladder problem. I find AF Betafood to work the best at helping your gallbladder recover quickly. Chew up 2-3 tablets immediately for quick relief and then continue to take two tablets per meal through the rest of the holiday season. That chronic mid back pain that you thought was from too much computer work may slowly disappear.

If you are getting a lot of gas and bloating you could also need more digestive enzymes and/or hydrochloric acid (HCL) to aid in food digestion. Gas starting immediately or up to one hour after eating a meal is usually a stomach digestion problem. As we get older we tend not to have enough HCL in our stomach to properly digest our proteins and absorb our minerals. The enzymes go to work in the small intestine and help further breakdown the proteins, fats and carbohydrates so that they can be absorbed into the blood stream. The old rule of thumb is that if the gas smells bad you aren’t digesting your proteins and if no real smell then you aren’t digesting your carbs. If you find your digestive system is a mess over the next few weeks, come in and I can help you figure out what is causing it and what to take to make it feel better. Don’t just take products like Nexium, Pepcid or Tums and hope that will fix it. They only cover up the problem and never really fix anything. They actually make things worse in the long run.

Office News

The staff will no longer be in the office on Fridays so make sure you get your supplements and adjustments by Thursday night. Tirza will still be in on certain Fridays doing thermograms but she won’t be able to sell you any supplements. The Thermogram Center is a totally separate business so she can’t access your files or account information. We can always mail out your supplements if you can’t make it to the office during normal hours.

We also want to remind you that we still have our internet based Symptom Survey that can be filled out by people who don’t live in the area who want help in trying to figure out what supplements they should be taking. To start, they just need to send us an email at staff@drcraigreese.com and we will email them the information to get started. There is no charge for doing the Symptom Survey and we make our recommendations based on their individual symptoms. It takes a lot of the confusion out of taking supplements.

Dr. Lee Thomas is heading up our Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression treatments using the DRX 9000 and will soon be sending you out his own monthly newsletter. If anyone you know is suffering from a disc problem or chronic neck and back pain, have them send us their email address and we will put them on his newsletter list. They can also contact the office and he will gladly do a free consultation with them to see if they are a candidate for his program. Dr. Thomas is very skilled at getting great results using Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression. There is no reason to put up with that pain!

Holiday Hours

This year Christmas is on a Tuesday so we will be closed Monday and Tuesday the 24th and 25th. The same two days are closed for the following week for New Year’s Eve and Day. The rest of the week, after Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the office will be open our normal hours. We look forward to a healthy and prosperous 2008 for all of us!
